REPRO Rising Virginia is hosting a special screening of Aftershock. This documentary sheds light on the alarming statistics of Black maternal mortality and the profound impact it has on Black families. Aftershock puts a spotlight on the crisis of Black maternal deaths in the United States by focusing on the cases of two New York City mothers, Shamony Gibson and Amber Isaac, who died during childbirth-related complications in recent years and how their deaths sparked their bereaved families to become activists on this issue.

Following the screening, the hosts will give a brief presentation on the Constitutional Amendment for Reproductive Freedom (Senate Joint Resolution 1 & House Joint Resolution 1) and provide information on how you can actively participate in advocacy efforts.

*Trigger Warning* This film explores the trauma of Black maternal health and death. This could be triggering to certain audiences.
