Getting your message out, voicing your perspective, can be difficult in this time of information overload. This week we will hear from people who are managing to be heard by reaching different age groups, in different geographic locations, and through different channels.

As part of our continuing celebration of Women’s History Month, we will have a conversation with a group of women in our community who make their voices heard on TikTok. These Women’s Who TikTok are bold, brassy, and call out the lies of MAGA Republicans. Mary Rarick (@MaryRarick), Heidi Dragneff (@heidi_maed_it), Julie Galdo (@happygrandma4democracy), and Finale Norton (@finale_norton) will share how they got started on TikTok, what they try to do with their TikTok presence, and what it means to have a thriving presence on social media.

Santiago Mayer (Executive Director, Voters of Tomorrow) founded Voters of Tomorrow as a political movement for young people and by young people in 2019 when he was only 17 years old. Voters of Tomorrow takes the issues Gen Z cares about most into the rooms where decisions get made. Santiago will tell us how this nationwide network of Gen Z organizers amplifies its message and helps focus this generation of activists.

Mayor Phillip D. Jones, the youngest elected mayor of Newport News, took the oath on January 10, 2023. Mayor Jones will share his vision for Newport News and what it means to be a millennial Mayor with new ideas in a city not known as a beacon for innovative change.

Join us on Friday for a show about talking the talk and walking the walk
