Statement of Solidarity on the Afghanistan Crisis

The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Caucus of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee is deeply concerned about the current humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. We support the statement made by the VA AAPI Legislative Caucus.

We stand in solidarity with our Afghan-American community and Afghan refugees.

As we monitor the situation, we ask the Biden Administration to do more to ensure the safety of Americans and Afghans evacuating Afghanistan, expedite the visa process for Afghans, and work with the international community to ensure the safety of those seeking refuge.

Here in Virginia, we welcome Afghan refugees as we have for refugees from many other countries and serve as a safe harbor.
