The FCDC Finance Director enhances and supplements the existing political fundraising capability of the County Committee. Duties include, but are not limited to: building new fundraising capability and programs; developing untapped local, state, and national sources of contributions; organizing meetings and events for the purpose of donor building; advising the Chair, Vice Chair of Finance, and Finance Committee on fundraising operations; and recruiting and supervising volunteers where necessary to supplement fundraising capability.
Specific responsibilities include:
Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience. With satisfactory performance, salary will be adjusted annually for inflation and merit. This employee is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, a reimbursable health plan (QSEHRA), Federal holidays, paid vacation leave, and paid sick leave.
We are seeking to hire a full-time employee. The Finance Director will be permitted to work remotely if desired, but is expected to maintain a regular presence in the FCDC office on an agreed upon schedule, and meet with donors in the vicinity of Fairfax County, VA.
We are open to other non-employee arrangements (e.g., independent contractor, service-based contract) if we have confidence that the need to build our fundraising capacity is met. Employment-based clauses proposed in this announcement would not apply to such an arrangement.
The Finance Director will report to the FCDC Executive Director, but is expected to work independently and with general direction from the Chair, the Personnel Committee, and the Steering Committee. Feedback shall occur no less than annually and in the first year, no later than six months into the appointment.
Fairfax County is the most populous county in Virginia, with over 1.1 million residents. About one of every seven Virginians lives in the County. Known for its quality of life, excellent business climate, and world-class school system, Fairfax County has a history of supporting Democratic candidates in most elections but recently has turned almost completely blue.
FCDC is the local political committee which operates under the auspices of the Democratic Party of Virginia. It is the largest Democratic party organization and one of the largest grassroots political organizations in the state, with over 1000 members. FCDC is governed by an elected chair, various vice chairs, district chairs, and committee and caucus chairs who are members of a steering committee. The Finance Director is an at-will employee and either party can terminate the relationship at any time with or without cause and with or without notice. This position is exempt from overtime rules of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
